An altar server assists the priest at regular weekend Masses, seasonal celebrations such as Easter Vigil, Christmas, Confirmation and First Communion and may occasionally serve at funerals and weddings, if requested. Participating in this ministry is considered a great privilege. Training for new and current altar servers is held in the Main Church on several dates in the late Fall. Parents of new servers are asked to attend the training as well. Servers are asked to state their preferred Mass time and are scheduled as a team with other experienced servers. Youth in 5th grade and older are invited to participate.

St. Patrick Church relies on its members to provide time, talent and treasure. We appreciate youth who give of themselves in this ministry and also the parents who support them!

The Liturgy Commission promotes and enhances the liturgical life of our parish. It provides programs of liturgical education, planning, and evaluation. The Commission plans, prepares, implements, evaluates and educates on all aspects of the liturgy so that the diverse community can more fully and actively worship in accordance with our diocesan policies and directives. We seek to enrich our parish's experience of our faith, through spiritual and physical enhancements to the church environment, focusing on church decor during special liturgical celebrations throughout the year.

Liturgy Commission meets at 6:00 pm on the 1st Wednesday of each month (August-May) to provide on-going support of the ministries involved in liturgy, including training and scheduling. The Commission also provides feedback, coordinates activities, programs and all special liturgies while enhancing the liturgical life of the parish.

The Ministry of Lector is very important! As the Assembly listens to your voice they begin to more fully understand the written Word. This is especially true if you have spent some time meditating in prayer and preparing to deliver.

Confirmed members are invited to participate in this ministry. We ask that you live the Word as well as proclaim it by actively participating in the Mass (even when you are not the Lector!). Please take some time to use the Lector Workbook in your preparations as it gives background on the readings and how to pronounce word. Lectors are scheduled according to the Mass time they prefer. Lectors will be asked to sign up for special liturgical celebrations such as Holy Days and at special prayer services such as Communal Penance in Advent and Lent. Training is provided in the fall and the parish provides lector workbooks for each lector to use.

St. Patrick Church relies on the time, talent and treasure of all its members. Thank you for using your God-given talents to proclaim the Word!

The Lord be in my heart and in my mouth to read the Holy Word of God. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Confirmed parish members are invited to participate in this very special ministry of distributing the Precious Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. Many Extraordinary Ministers are needed to distribute at weekend Masses, seasonal celebrations such as Holy Week, Easter Vigil, Easter, and Christmas as well as at funerals and weddings, if requested. Training is held in the late Fall and then participants indicate their preferred Mass time and are scheduled as such for several months at a time. After training their names are then sent to the Bishop of the Diocese of Davenport to be commissioned for a 3-year period of time and receive a certificate. Parish guidelines ask that Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion get a replacement minister if they are unable to attend their scheduled Mass time. Diocesan policy requires that Extraordinary Ministers attend a training session yearly to keep up-to-date on current distribution guidelines as set forth by the parish and/or diocese.

Participating in the Ministry of Sacristan is a privilege and an honor. As a Sacristan, your duties include preparing the sacred vessels and other important items for use on the altar during the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Following Mass, your duties include cleaning the Credence Table, washing  the vessels, and putting alll related items away in specific locations in the Sacristy.

As a Sacristan, you show the Assembly how important this Ministry is to you by dressing appropriately, respectfully approaching the altar by bowing reverently, and by actively participating in the Mass and other parish activities. It is important that you arrive at least 30 minutes piror to Mass in order to allow a comfortable time for preparation for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

Attention to detail is a must for this Ministry. Sacristans are assigned a Mass time and month according to preferences, to the greatest extent possible. Sacristans are asked to arrange for a substitute if illness or an unexpected absence occurs.

Sacristans are also expected to provide their expertise and service for additional Holiday and Holy Day Mass times as those requests and opportunities become available through the Sacristan Ministry leader.

St. Patrick Church relies on the time, talent and treasure of those persons participating in the Sacristan Ministry, and thanks you for the commitment of your God-given talent.

Chapel of Perpetual Adoration and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is located between the Day Chapel & Nave 24 hours a day. Everyone has the opportunity to place our hopes, joys, troubles, fears and dreams before the Lord. You are encouraged to sign up for a one-hour period of prayer or visit as you often as you can.

Regularly scheduled participants are asked to find a substitute from the ministry listing if they cannot keep their hour because of unforeseen illness, vacation or absence.

There are some hours during the week that are currently without a regularly scheduled person and are filled as needed by faithful substitutes. Please prayerfully consider filling one of these hours and contact the ministry leader for more information.

St. Patrick Church is a very welcoming and hospitable parish! Guests, visiting priests and parish members are welcomed with a smile no matter which Mass they attend. Participants in this ministry have a ready smile and willing-to-help attitude that greet all those upon entering the church building.

Ushers and Greeters assist those attending Mass in finding a place to sit, pass the collection baskets at Offertory, usher the assembly in an orderly fashion at Communion as well as distribute bulletins and other necessary information. Participants are requested to arrive at Mass early in order to be at their assigned places (entry doors, etc) when guests arrive at Mass. Other assigned duties are replacing the missals and hymn books in the pews after each Mass, thereby ensuring that a reverent and clean atmosphere is available for the next Mass. Participants are scheduled for a month at a time and are asked to get a replacement if an unexpected illness or absence occurs.  Ushers and Greeters are requested by the Ministry Leader for Holy Day Masses and seasonal celebrations.

St. Patrick Church relies on the time, talent and treasure of those persons participating in the Usher-Greeter Ministry, and thanks you for the commitment of your God-given talent.
